Media Women of South Carolina (MWSC) has been the SC affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW) since 1980. NFPW is a dynamic nationwide organization of professional women, and men, involved in careers across the ever growing communications spectrum.
As with our national organization, MWSC membership includes professionals from a wide range of experience levels and career fields. We learn from each other and grow together as we pursue our career goals while being fully committed to the highest ethical standards in communications. We protect and promote First Amendment rights and strive to maintain the foundations of ethical communications in a field that changes with the pace of technology. Over the 73 year history of the NFPW, much has changed. Together, we grow with the tools at hand while embracing the timeless commitment to truth, ethics, and responsibility that press pioneers forged as our professional framework.
While embracing the new we value of the roots that brought us to where we are in our professions today. Our individual members work in print and electronic journalism, public relations, advertising, freelancing, graphic design, new media, marketing, photography and more. We’re authors and educators. We own our own businesses. We work for companies, both large and small, for schools, the government and non-profits. We offer student, professional, and emeritus (retiree) memberships to draw the wide range of experience bases together.
