High School Communications Contest

MWSC  proudly sponsors an annual competition for high school students as a way to gain recognition, build portfolios, and receive feedback from industry professionals. As an NFPW affiliate, we coordinate our contests so that they feed into the opportunities for national recognition and awards through the National Federation of Press Women which sponsors the only nationwide communications competition for high school students. The contest is endorsed by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Dow Jones announces first-place winners and promotes the competition in its publication distributed to journalism advisers across the nation, giving students and their teachers/advisers local and nationwide recognition.

Our digital contest streamlines the entry and judging process. Students may enter work published in 22 different journalistic categories in the broad areas of news, video/digital, and yearbook.

High school students compete at the NFPW affiliate level with first-place winners moving on to compete at the national level. All 2015 national, affiliate and at-large contest entries must have been published, e-published, broadcast or issued between March 1, 2014, and February 28, 2015, otherwise known as “the contest year.”

Gather your digital entries (pdf/jpeg/or video formats) and then head to our ONLINE CONTEST SITE to submit your entries.

FEES:  There is a $3 fee per entry into the MWSC contest.  First place winners in each category move on to compete at the national level through NFPW.  Fees for the entries moving on to national competition are covered by MWSC.

The entry deadline for the MWSC High School Communications Contest is March 9, 2015. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out!
